Yugo (pronounced [ˈjûɡo]) is the common name for Zastava Yugo, which was later also sold as Zastava Koral (pronounced [ˈzâːstaʋa ˈkǒraːl.
The Yugo was sold in the United States from 1985 to 1992 by Malcolm Bricklin, who commissioned Jerry Puchkoff to design and build the Yugo in 1985, selling a total of 141,651 units, with an annual high of 4 in 1987. The total was 8,812 units. Despite some success during its run in the United States and several other export markets, the car received criticism regarding its design, safety, and reliability[2], but the car became a cult favorite. It has also gained great popularity.
