Shelby's latest Super Snake takes the new Ford Mustang to heights the factory hasn’t reached for street use.
A 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger boosts the engine’s output to 830 horsepower. Supporting modifications include a superior radiator and heat exchanger, performance half shafts, a Borla exhaust, and a one-piece drive shaft for manual transmission models, ensuring owners can fully exploit the car’s power. The exterior features an aluminum hood with traditional pin locks, carbon fiber vents, a wide body front fascia and fenders, a carbon fiber Super Snake rear wing and diffuser, all sitting on 20-inch forged magnesium wheels.
With the online configurator now live, we know the Super Snake comes with a traditional high price: the 2024 Super Snake starts at $159,995 before destination fees for a coupe with a manual transmission. This pricing harks back to the original 1967 Shelby Super Snake, which would have retailed for $8,000—when the standard Mustang cost under $2,500. Ford only produced one due to its high cost. When the Super Snake re-launched in 2007, the package cost $28,000 in addition to the $41,000 base price of the Shelby Mustang GT500.
The 2024 Shelby Super Snake’s cost is broken down as follows: $59,440 for the base Mustang and $100,555 for the Super Snake Package. Opting for Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission adds $1,595, while choosing the convertible version increases the price by $5,500. Stripe packages are free, but selecting a color other than Shadow Black, Oxford White, or Iconic Silver incurs an additional charge: $295 for Atlas Blue or Race Red, and $495 for Rapid Red Metallic. Once you've decided on the body style, transmission, color, and stripes, your configuration options are complete. The most expensive standard 2024 Super Snake model tops out at $167,585 before destination fees, taxes, and other charges.
Shelby is limiting production to 250 units in the United States, with "limited availability" in international markets. If you miss out on this year's allotment, it might be wise to reserve your spot for the 2025 Super Snake.
